Youth Orchestra students under the direction of Maestro Vales will perform compositions of the contest winners in South America. The event is sponsored by the Organization of American States and in cooperation with University of North Carolina, Children and Youth Orchestra Foundation of Argentina, the National System for the Promotion of Muisc of Mexico, the National System for Children and Youth Orchestras of Colombia (Batuta Foundation), the Youth Orchestra Foundation of Chile, and the DC Youth Orchestra Program. Participating children are from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Haiti, Jamaica, and St Lucia.

Fifth Annual Combined High School Choir Festival
Reilly Lewis has a mission: getting young people to hear, play, sing and love great music. So for the past four years the Choral Society has gathered students from schools throughout the DC area for a day of enthusiastic music-making, leading to a grand choral concert, led by Festival Director Benjamin Hutto. It’s free and open to the public. Don’t miss this exhilarating event which this year features the DC Youth Orchestra. Early Bird Registration Deadline. Those interested in registering for the Spring Semester (January 23 - May/June, 2010) must register by January 2 to received the early registration discount. Registrations are accepted through the beginning of the semester, but the price increases after January 2, 2010.

Student in the DCYOP Flute Choir, under the direction of Sharon Pabon will perform at Chevy Chase Bloomingdales for the holiday season. In 2008, DCYOP was Bloomingdales' Charity of Choice.

The group is under the direction of Maestra Victoria Gau and is comprised of those string students at the upper most levels of the program, especially those looking for additional performing and literature opportunities.

Also included on the performance is a guest appearance by the Young Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra (YVCO) - students who are selected by invitation to participate in an elite string group of the DCYOP.
